At the 18th G20 Heads of State and Government Summit in New Delhi, India, participants were looking forward to the 28th Conference of the Parties (COP28) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), which the UAE will host.

Attendees said the international event would bring together all parties to change the impact of climate change. They stressed that the UAE has embarked on ambitious plans to elevate its position as a global leader in finding effective solutions to climate change.

Tristen Nelle, professor of international politics and history at the University of Cambridge, said the focus will be on the UAE in the coming months as the country prepares to host COP28. The whole world is eager to see the outcome of this important global event, in particular to agree on a way forward to combat climate change and save the world from its effects.

Yexi Seli, senior editor of the New Indian Express, believes that the expected outcome of COP28 is to achieve a balance between development and environmental sustainability. The UAE has always been committed to achieving this goal and is at the forefront of the world in environmental protection and natural resource exploitation. He is confident that the UAE will make great progress in this meeting and during its COP28 presidency.
